Pie

My arch nemesis in the baking world.

I love to eat pie, I love the variations of fillings available to insert in a pie, I love the fact that you can make both sweet and main course pies BUT, I cannot master the crust.

I have, for my entire baking and cooking life, been mesmerized by those who throw flour and salt, butter or shortening or both, egg, water, vinegar or whatever, into a bowl and produce the flakiest, easiest to roll out covering known to man. I continue to studder through this process each and every time I attempt it!

I’ve tried tons of recipes and still….

To all you masters of the covering, I salute you! I will continue my quest regardless of the miserable outcomes of hundreds of previous attempts and will let you know if I ever find pie crust nirvana…

In the meantime, I found my old pumpkin pie recipe,  cut from a can of E.D. Smith’s fresh pumpkin…..check it out in the recipe section. Make it to use up all the leftover whipping cream from Easter……ENJOY!
